CHAMPIONS!
Aaron and Dylan played in the championship game tonight for Little League baseball. Aaron started out the game as catcher and Dylan on the bench. I know I'm just a mom, but one of their coaches is kind of a dork. Dylan sits a lot, but the one game he was actually allowed to come out and pitch - well he threw for four innings allowing no runs and striking out 8 batters. Not too shabby I'd say. Anyway, after the third inning Dylan came out and played right field. The score was still 0 to 0. Aaron struck out the first time at bat. The second time they hit him with a pitch and he got on base. He got all the way to third and then stranded. At the end of the fifth inning the other team scored a run. We had three up and three down. I was going crazy! At the top of the 6th inning our first batter struck out. Aaron was up again and it was full count when the pitcher hit him again. He got on base and stole to second. The next batter got a bunt and got on base, Aaron stole to third. The next batter got up and struck out. It's now 0 to 1 for the other team in the top of the sixth inning. There is a runner on second and Aaron on third. The next batter got up. He's a rookie which by itself is a lot of pressure. Add to that it's his first at bat in the game, but he's a good hitter so anything is possible. First pitch is a strike. Second pitch a ball, third pitch a strike. The ball goes slightly behind the catcher and Aaron starts in for home. The catcher throws to the third baseball who starts to run Aaron in. Aaron takes off slowly, watching the third baseman. The baseman throws the ball to home and Aaron sprints in for the plate. The throw is over the catcher's mitt and Aaron gets to the bag before he does. It's now 1 to 1!

We are now in the bottom of the sixth and the other team is up to bat. Our pitcher only has a few throws left before he's out of pitches. In this league they keep track of their pitches so an athlete doesn't throw too much and get hurt! It's also a way to keep things relatively even between teams. They have three batters up and three down. No scores! This means extra innings. It's the top of the seventh and we are at the bottom of the batting roster. No problem for these boys! One gets on the base, the next hits a single and puts the runner around to second. The third batter comes up and strikes out. The fourth comes up and hits two home! It's now 3 to 1. The next two batters strike out. It's not over though, we are the visiting team. Our pitcher only has 5 pitches left! He strikes out the first batter. The second batter hits a line drive to him and he throws him out. Now he is out of pitches! Our new pitcher comes in. Noah is a stud! He and Aaron are only a few months apart, but the size difference - well you can see for yourself. Noah gets on the mound and walks the first batter. The next batter hits an awesome hit to left field. He gets all the way to second base. The last batter gets up and Noah strikes him out! The boys won! They are the champions. It was awesome! They were soooo excited. And like tradition they jumped in the river. Weird. I am very proud of both boys.

T-Ball Ends
Jayden's last game was the exact same time as Aaron and Dylan's final game so I wasn't able to see it. Our awesome friends took him. His coach arranged a field trip after the game. They were able to go on the duck tours! He had a ball. I think I'll throw away the whistle though - aaah!!

After Aaron and Dylan's game they announced the Majors All-Stars. Aaron was chosen! This year they will stay here in Ketchikan. Five other islands will be coming down to play. They will play for 8 days! Aaron is really excited. I'm going to have to find a new job to pay for the uniform, extras, etc. I am very proud of him though!!

BASEBALL BABES
So yes, it's baseball season still. Aaron and Dylan are wrapping up there regular season with a game tonight and one on Friday. Tonight they pulled off their first shutout. It was three to zero. Low score, but there were a lot of hits and the innings were quick. Aaron played catcher and Dylan played second for a few innings. Dylan was great! This was the first time this season they've played him in the infield, but he didn't seemed concerned.

I kept trying to take some pictures of Dylan while he was close, left field makes it hard to get good pictures. After a few he started giving me the evil eye so I quickly took one more and sat down. He actually seemed to have fun tonight, he hasn't most of the season. He got a good hit, but they got him out at first. He only got up to bat once.

While I was sitting on the bleachers a couple of high school girls walked by. They asked if I knew who the catcher was. I said no, hee, hee (total lie since it was Aaron). The one said, boy is he cute - too bad he's not older. As they walked away to the older field my girlfriends and I got a big kick out of this. Not too shabby of a compliment considering the three girls are extremely beautiful basketball players from High School. I think I'm going to start having to put my children under lock and key. Or in Aaron's case get him some serious counseling for his big head!

House by the Beach
Tonight we went for a drive to say goodbye to friends. They are leaving for Anchorage in the morning. This week they were staying in a Bed in Breakfast as there household items already left on the barge. Their house was located at the end of the road at South Point Higgins Beach. It was only about 800 square feet, but it had an amazing deck and a heavenly view. The kids played on the beach for awhile.

When they were done at the beach they climbed up on a small fort next to the house. Morgan went right up the ramp, but Dylan was a little hesitant. I told him to just do it and made him so mad he climbed up. Hee, hee, don't tell him I did that on purpose. He's as afraid of heights as I am and being stubborn is the only thing that works for me. They would have stayed up there all night if we'd let him.

This is how Aaron spent his time by the beach. After a few minutes he moved from this chair by the windows to the couch. He slept the whole time. It must be all the chores he's doing, NOT!

While we were gathering up the kids to leave Aspen kept running away to the bottom of the deck. I turned to call for her and this is what I saw. Too bad I can't take the jail with me!

Blessings of Children

The last few days I've been a little down. As I was reading my scriptures last night I was thinking about how blessed I am. I have amazing kids! They are hard working, smart, good looking and so wonderful!

Now I need to take the time to be with them. To love them and give them the tools to know how wonderful they are. So today I make the promise to my children to stop and be with them!

I know they say it's all in the DNA, but where did these girls come from? Deep eyes, long eyelashes and wonderful smiles.

I don't know where they go it, but they sure are beautiful!!

Grandama Comes to Visit

This past week Grandma Adams came to visit. It was way too short. We loved having her come, but our lives were too busy. We forgot to stop and enjoy it! Now she's gone and we really miss her. It's amazing how much you take for granted. Grandma is the best and the kids loved having her here!

We went on a picnic to Ward Lake. I thought the weather was perfect, but it was still cold for Grandma. We played at the lake for awhile and then headed around. Jayden kept saying, "just a little bit, right mom?" We finally made it all around. We found this tree that was huge! Dylan stood next to it and we realized just how big it was.

After our walk we headed in to town for an ice cream. It was a beautiful night!

View From The Deck

This was the view from the top of the cruise ship. Dylan and his fifth grade class were invited to tour the Volendaam Ship last Monday. We had a blast! They took us all over the ship and then led us to the dining room. The kids were able to eat their fill for almost two hours. Dylan was so polite. He didn't take too much and was very gracious with the waiters. I wasn't surprised! What good kid!
